Practice Policies:

Our policies are designed to establish clear expectations so that we may provide exceptional sports medicine care for your horse.

SCHEDULING

  • Please text or call our business line (602-603-7139) to schedule appointments. Messages are not returned over weekends or Federal holidays.

  • Appointment timing may occasionally need to shift to accommodate a more urgent case; the same flexibility will be extended to your horse should the need arise.

  • Specific appointment times are provided at booking and we do our best to adhere to them. As a mobile practice, please allow a 15–20 minute grace period for circumstances beyond our control (a prior appointment running long, traffic, severe weather, etc). If we are running behind, we will text an estimated arrival time.

  • Please complete your new client forms within 24 hours of your appointment being scheduled so that we may confirm the appointment. Forms can be emailed to sonoranequinesportsmed@gmail.com. We can only hold an appointment slot for 24 hours due to demand.

  • You may be asked to complete an updated intake form if your horse has not been seen within the last calendar year.

Appointments:

  • Please have your horse caught, haltered, and dry prior to our arrival to allow for an optimal exam.

  • We request that a person familiar with your horse's health history be present for the appointment. If this is not possible, please inform our office as soon as possible.

  • We do not always have the luxury of an assistant, and as such we may require help handling your horse. Please have a handler ready if you do not feel comfortable assisting with restraint.

  • We may use restraint techniques at our discretion to facilitate a safe exam or treatment (halter, stud chain, etc). Please let us know at the time of scheduling if this may pose a problem.

CANCELLATIONS, MISSED APPOINTMENTS & ADD-ONS

  • Life happens — if you need to change your appointment time, please give us at least 24 hours' notice so we may accommodate our wait list. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to the travel fee or a portion of the exam/treatment fee. This fee may be added to the balance of your next visit if payment cannot be processed at the time.

  • Payment information may be stored securely using our payment processing application (Square), which complies with current data protection standards. You may request at any time that this information not be stored.

  • We may not always be able to accommodate last-minute add-ons. Please give 48 hours' notice if you would like to add a patient to an existing appointment. Requests made at the time of the appointment are at the treating doctor's discretion and may require a separate visit.

  • Please notify our office as soon as possible if your horse has been diagnosed with a contagious disease so that we may adjust our schedule accordingly.

  • We reserve the right to decline services if there is any concern for the horse's well-being or the safety of our team.

PAYMENT

  • Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, or card (via Square processing).

  • If you are unable to be present at the time of service, payment information must be saved on file prior to your visit.

  • Should a payment be declined or returned, we will send an invoice due within 3 days. Should the invoice go unpaid, we reserve the right to dismiss you as a client.

  • Travel fees may be split among multiple clients seen at one location; each client pays a minimum of $10.
